How To Cancel Ambit Energy Consultant Membership

I mistakenly(Stupid Mistake) got signed up as Ambit Energy Consultant two days ago. I certainly admit it was a greatest mistake, as I wasn't aware the service I will be promoting is not going to be beneficent for most of my future clients(Friends and Family). My ethics restricted me to go further on this path and I decided to quit.
First of all, I should have researched a bit before taking decision based on a friend that I relied on thinking whatever he is saying is all the fact that is available (Never ever do that again!!). It was Saturday, I didn't wanted to sit on the computer and the friend sounded so confident. As he was one of the smart people I knew, I kind of over estimated his knowledge and to make him happy I signed up right away which was a great mistake.
Now Let me come to the point:

Why I cancel it: After further research I learned that Ambit Energy will charge their customer extra 9.99 per month if their usage is less than 1000 kWH. Most people I know use less than 1000 kWH monthly. Therefore, instead of saving they will be over spending (off course depending on which carrier they are signed up with). I didn't personally like this policy, and since I didn't like I don't want to recommend it.

How I cancelled it:
When the customer service from Ambit Energy Consultant service called today(Monday- 1 day after I signed up) to confirm the membership, I told I am signing off. She was bit disappointed but provided me a fax number : 1-800-508-9850 and told me to write a request of cancellation with the consultant ID, signature and date. I faxed the request right away. I am expecting a refund (I checked my credit card bill online and found that charge didn't even come through yet). If The charge is sustained, I am ready to dispute it.

Update: They promptly refunded my money within the next business day.

did you ever receive a refund? im in the same situation, i've been trying to cancel my consultant membership and they've been tellign me that they hav'nt received my cancellation letter, which i did fax..twice.

I don't know, I cancelled it within 2 days.

I recently signed up as a consultant , and yes you are correct, if someone does not use 1000 Kwh a month they are charged. I also was shocked by that. However, most all of the companies do that, they hide it in the delivery charge. I have checked several different bill scenarios in "Calculate my Savings" sections of the customer sign up page. If you are using less than 1000 kwh, that charge is factored in. Ambit is not alone, all of them do that.
However, I am surprised that my "upline" isnt aware of this. they are so focused on the cents per kwh. For me, Ambit saves larger users, and breaks even or costs slightly more for very low utilizers. But, other than my grandmother, everybody I know is using more than 3000 kwh!!! Yikes - no wonder the planet is a mess!

That's really a mess 3000 kwh in one house?!!! They really hate the money and the electricity then :)
